THE ELEMENTS

unique terroir
Like a fine wine, the terroir sets the foundation for a crops overall character and quality, but is seldom considered in distilled spirits.
Evolved from a glacial till, the soil is rich in clay with a perfect balance of sand and silt. The soil, elevation, arid climates, and low rainfall provide extraordinary growing conditions. The hot summer days, followed by cool summer nights, generate large temperature swings. This allows the wheat to rest at night and open its leaves to maximize the morning sun and dew. This impressive union of attributes, along with the geographical influence of Yellowstone, creates a unique terroir responsible for growing America's finest red wheat.

hard red spring wheat
The red wheat varietals farmed here have been line-select bread exclusively in this region for hundreds of years and can be found nowhere else in the world.
Native to the high altitudes of the Big Sky region, hard red spring stands out as the aristocrat of wheat due to its unparalleled qualities. It has the highest protein content of all U.S. wheat varieties, yielding 16 percent on average. This is double the protein content of standard white and winter wheat varietals commonly found in standard vodka products. The red wheat varietals grown here can be found nowhere else in the world. Its elevated wheat complex results in a noticeably softer mouthfeel with a highly desirable taste and an inescapably smooth finish.

yellowstone spring water
Fueled by seasonal rain and cold mountain snowmelt, these waters are mineral-rich and oxygen-dense, indeed, a perfect pairing for the estate-grown red wheat.
Descending from 12,000 feet in the Grand Tetons, through the Yellowstone, to the Gallatin Valley, these waters are the most significant and pristine aquatic bodies in the United States. Fueled by seasonal rain and cold mountain snowmelt, these waters are mineral-rich and oxygen-dense, making them the perfect pairing for the estate grown red wheat.

single distilled
To emphasize the unique flavors of the red wheat and its terroir, we distill our vodka one perfect time.
The cultural perception is that the more times a vodka product is distilled, the better it is. That idea is entirely fictional. Each time a spirit is distilled, the natural flavor of the grain used to produce it is removed, resulting in a product that oftentimes burns and resembles ethanol. By distilling Golden Eagle one perfect time, the natural notes produced by the red wheat; vanilla, sweet cream, and toasted almond, are intentionally emphasized, avoiding the typical ethanol-like taste found in over-distilled vodka products.
THE PROCESS
Excellence from seed to sip
A vodka’s quality will only ever be as good as its wheat, and its wheat will only ever be as quality as the hands who grow it. Sitting at approximately 7,000 above sea level in the Big Sky region of Montana, the farm has been family-owned and operated since 1905. Exuding heritage, tradition, and an unrivaled commitment to excellence,
this is where Golden Eagle Vodka begins.

The red wheat varietals farmed here have been line-select bread exclusively in this region for, in some cases, hundreds of years. Several thousand acres of this unique red wheat are harvested yearly and can be found nowhere else in the world. Decades of systematic growing trials have resulted in the continuous growth of superior-quality wheat with a truly authentic character.
After harvest, the red wheat is transported, ground by a hammer mill, and prepared for the mash. Thereafter, it is met with Yellowstone spring water, America’s most pristine water source flowing from the Grand Teton’s, through the Yellowstone, into the Gallatin valley. Fueled by seasonal rain and cold mountain snowmelt, these waters are mineral-rich and oxygen-dense, indeed, a perfect pairing for the estate-grown red wheat.

Symbiotically coming together to make the ideal mash, the ingredients are then meticulously moved to small tanks for seven days of rest. After resting, the mash is complete, carefully prepared, and distilled one perfect time in small batches. After every five gallons are distilled, Golden Eagle is checked to confirm and maintain an elevated standard of excellence.
After single distillation, Golden Eagle’s taste is intentionally led by the red wheat’s full-bodied qualities. To achieve a harmonious balance between the palate’s rich flavor and soft mouthfeel, Golden Eagle is filtered through active carbon. Here, it is consistently checked to ensure that the optimal balance of flavor and mouthfeel is achieved.
